By : Robin Keskisarkka

LINKOPING UNIVERSITY

A. Introduction

The article new evidence on the syntatic text simplification techniques involve rewriting texts to create simpler sentence structures. These rewrite rules maay, among many other things, split long sentences into shorter ones, rewrite verb form from passive to active, remove superfluous word, or apply anaphora resolution.

B. Background
Background some of the main concepts and previous research underlying this thesis. for example
autoatic text simplification, the author says, the simplification process described would, however, also apply to human readers. they suggest that simplification can be more or less appropriate depending on the context.

C. Weakness
This article used a modifield version of  the SynLex dictionary to estimate the level of synonymy between word pairs. The maximum level of synonym did not quarantee that substitution would be correct , rather the precision at this level was stlll relatively poor. This suggests that the surrounding context of a word must be taken into account in order to reduce the ratio of errors for the replacement.

D. Strengthen
This article have much methods that were used to evaluate the performance of the moduls in the different experiment settings. It also describes and comperes the texts which were used in the experiment.

E. Summarized the article
In this article using three different
   1. based on word frecuency
the result show that replacement based on word frequency.
   2. based on the lenght
can improve readibility in term of established.

F. Critique the article
After the review, author stated that individuals with limited knowledge of economy may profit very little by the distinction between the terms income, salary, profit, and revenue. Replaving these term with a single word, say only income, would probably result in a document that fails to appreciate the subtle differences between these three concepts, but it does not nescessarily affect the individual`s understanding of the text to the same degree.

G. Conclution
In conclution this article the simplification processes describe would, however, also, apply to human readers. The suggest that simplification can be more or less appropriate depending on the context.
